January 24, 2001 Note: Added a lavender (herb) library for all those who have requested one over the years. I finally got it together. It's a work in motion, suggestions are welcome.
January 8, 2001 Note: So sad. Lost many lavenders and other plants to the lengthy below 35 degree weather here in Santa Barbara. My current list of lavenders totals a paltry 34. :-( Happily though, I've begun my garden renovation, with over 20 new lavenders arriving soon, and making room for more berries and more edibles. I've found it's easier to keep up with the weeds when you're producing food the family begs for. Will try for a February 2001 photographic update.
June 12, 2000 Note: Added full plant photos of the following lavenders: Rosea, Grosso, Narrowleaf, du Provence, Viridis, and Heterophylla. Also added purple basil, variegated sage, chive plant, mexican sage plant
June 11, 2000 Note: We didn't think the doves would want to nest here! This woodpecker is a new addition to our bird sightings..s. So far we haven't got a clear picture of the only Baltimore Oriole pair in the area, which seems to think our bird sanctuary is darn cool. We're still trying.
May 12, 2000 Note: My son's special recipe for dove deluxe ... thistle, sunflower, saffower, millet, cracked corn (we used old popcorn, hit with hammer one time), CatDogCcheesits (don't ask), all with no shells, if possible. Record for dove within 50 feet is 13. Photos soon.
April 28, 2000 Note: I'm still revamping this site, it should be ready by June 9, 2000. New pond, dove path, and bird houses, and much more!
April 15, 2000 Note: I've photographed about one-third of my garden so far and hope to get the rest this spring as everything starts blooming. I didn't get my camera until after the spring bloom last year and after I had harvested and hedged most of my herbs. My garden is mainly made up of items that are useful in some way, culinary, medicinal, botanical crafts and art, and cosmetic toiletries.
Some of the following plants are no longer in my garden, due to a cold and wet winter here. I've had to re-adjust my lavender collection to make allowances for plants which haven't done well here. Look forward to more details on growth, weather conditions, and bloom for each lavender in the near future.
